Winter service in Ulm and Neu-Ulm, the duty transferred

You are not buying a snow shovel. You are buying the transfer of a duty. Under a written contract we clear and grit the agreed areas within the agreed hours. Every visit is logged with time, area and grit used.

The essentials in 30 seconds

  • The clearing and gritting duty for your areas transfers to us.
  • Weekdays from 7am, Sundays and holidays from 8am, until 8pm.
  • Every visit logged: time, area, weather, grit type, quantity.
  • Season contracts are signed between September and November.

What it covers

The season runs from 1 November to 31 March and includes:

  • Standby cover around the clock, weather watch, setting out before the duty hours start
  • Clearing of pavement, access paths, yard, parking areas, steps and ramps
  • Keeping the route to the bin store and the escape routes free
  • Gritting with the material agreed for each area
  • A grit store on site, refilled through the season
  • A second pass when snow returns within the duty hours
  • A log per visit: date, times, area, weather and quantity

Cleared snow goes to a fixed stacking point, agreed at the site visit. Sweeping up the grit in spring is quoted as a separate item. Roof work we do not take on: snow guards, roof slides and icicles belong to a trade with fall protection.

Areas, clearing and grit

What goes on which area is written into the contract. Your town's by-law governs, and we check it for your address.

What transferring the duty means

In Ulm and Neu-Ulm the duty to clear and grit the public pavement sits with the adjoining owner, not with the town. For access paths, the yard, parking areas and escape routes on the property it applies in any case. Under a written contract we take over performance for the agreed areas and carry liability for it being done. That is why the contract names the areas, the hours, the grit and the trigger conditions, because a promise of winter service as required transfers almost nothing. What stays with you is careful selection and a spot check now and then, and our visit logs are what evidence it.

Frequently asked questions

Does the duty of care really transfer to you?

Yes, the duty to perform transfers with the written contract. We clear and grit the agreed areas within the agreed hours and carry liability for it happening. What stays with you is careful selection and an occasional spot check. Our logs are how you evidence that check.

By when must it be cleared in the morning?

Typically from 7am on weekdays and from 8am on Sundays and public holidays, held until 8pm. Only your town's by-law is binding. We check it for your address and write the actual hours into the contract. During continuous snowfall, clearing follows once it stops.

Season rate or per visit?

The season rate moves the risk of a snowy winter to us; billing per visit leaves it with you. The service is identical either way: standby, clearing, gritting, grit material, documentation. On a season rate we do not come back for more after a heavy January.

Are you allowed to use salt?

That depends on your town's by-law; on pavements de-icing salt is restricted in many places. We check the rule for your address before the contract and fix the material for each area. On natural stone, around tree roots and on car park ramps we advise abrasive material regardless.

The season starts in November

Season contracts are signed between September and November; after that the rounds are usually full. We clear in Ulm, Neu-Ulm, Pfuhl, Burlafingen, Elchingen, Senden and Weißenhorn. Send us the address and the areas and we will come and look.
